As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we have newly appointed Kwonsa in our church. 창립40주년을 맞아 새로 권사님들을 임명했습니다.

그러므로 이렇게 구름 떼와 같이 수많은 증인이 우리를 둘러싸고 있으니, 우리도 갖가지 무거운 짐과 1)얽매는 죄를 벗어버리고, 우리 앞에 놓인 달음질을 참으면서 달려갑시다.  믿음의 창시자요 완성자이신 예수를 바라봅시다. 그는 자기 앞에 놓여 있는 기쁨을 내다보고서, 부끄러움을 마음에 두지 않으시고, 십자가를 참으셨습니다. 그리하여 그는 하나님의 보좌 오른쪽에 앉으셨습니다. (히브리서 12:1-2)

히브리서 12장은 우리의 신앙을 “경주”에 비유합니다. 이 경주는 단거리 달리기가 아니라, 끝까지 인내하며 달려야 하는 긴 여정입니다. 그래서 중요한 것은 속도가 아니라 방향과 시선입니다.

말씀은 먼저 “무거운 것과 얽매이기 쉬운 죄를 벗어 버리라”고 말합니다. 우리가 앞으로 나아가지 못하는 이유는 능력이 부족해서가 아니라, 이미 너무 많은 것을 붙잡고 있기 때문입니다. 내려놓지 않으면 달릴 수 없습니다. 하나님은 우리에게 더 빠르게 달리라고 하기 전에, 먼저 가볍게 하라고 말씀하십니다.

또한 우리 주변에는 “구름같이 둘러싼 증인들”이 있다고 말합니다. 믿음의 선배들, 그리고 지금도 함께 신앙의 길을 걷는 공동체가 우리를 둘러싸고 있습니다. 우리는 혼자가 아닙니다. 이 사실은 우리의 걸음을 다시 일으키는 큰 힘이 됩니다.

무엇보다 중요한 것은 “예수를 바라보는 것”입니다. 우리의 시선이 문제에 머물면 낙심하지만, 예수님께 향하면 다시 일어설 수 있습니다. 예수님은 이 경주의 시작이시며, 동시에 완성이십니다. 그분이 이미 길을 가셨고, 지금도 우리를 이끌고 계십니다.

오늘 하루도 완벽하게 달리려고 애쓰기보다,시선을 예수님께 두고 한 걸음씩 나아가십시오.그것이 믿음의 경주를 끝까지 완주하는 길입니다. 이를 위해 준비한 "24시간 예수와 동행, 영성일기 세미나"에 등록해주세요. 교회에서 하는 40주년 행사이기도 하지만, 지금 열린교회와 이민교회에 필요한 영성훈련 프로그램입니다.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race set before us.Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12 describes our faith as a race.But this race is not a sprint—it is a long journey that requires endurance to the very end. Therefore, what matters is not speed, but direction and focus.

The passage first tells us to “throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.” The reason we often struggle to move forward is not because we lack ability, but because we are already holding on to too much. We cannot run unless we let go. Before God calls us to run faster, He calls us to run lighter.

It also reminds us that we are surrounded by a “great cloud of witnesses.” The faithful who have gone before us, and the community walking alongside us now, surround and support us. We are not alone. This truth gives us strength to rise again.

Above all, the most important thing is to fix our eyes on Jesus. When our focus is on our problems, we become discouraged. But when we look to Jesus, we find the strength to continue. Jesus is both the beginning and the completion of this race. He has already gone before us and is still leading us today.

So today, rather than trying to run perfectly, keep your eyes on Jesus and take one step at a time. That is how we faithfully finish the race.
