10내가 이렇게 그들을 치는 까닭은, 그들이 내 백성을 잘못 인도하였기 때문이다. 무엇하나 잘 되는 것이 없는데도 잘 되어 간다고 하여 백성을 속였기 때문이다. 내 백성이 담을 세우면, 그들은 그 위에 회칠이나 하는 자들이다.(에스겔 13:10)

오늘 본문은 거짓예언자들에 대한 내용이 기록된 본문입니다. 거짓예언자의 가장 큰 문제는 사람들을 잘못된 길로 인도한다는 것입니다. 여기서 우리는 신앙생활을 "길"로 표현하고 또는 방향이라는 표현으로 옳은길과 잘못된 길, 옳은 방향과 잘못된 방향을 이야기합니다.

순간, 내가 지금 가는 길은 바른 길 일까? 라는 궁금함이 생길 수 있습니다. 에스겔은 "자기 마음대로 말하는 자"가 곧 거짓 예언자들이고 이들이 잘못된 길로 안내한다고 이야기합니다.

간단한 기준이지만, 자기 마음대로 말하는 자를 누구를 말하는 걸까? 라는 궁금증이 생깁니다. 이에 대해 에스겔은 "하나님의 말씀을 받지 않은자"라고 표현하고 있습니다.

말씀을 받지 않았다는 표현과, 자기 마음대로 말하는 것 사이에 우리는 하나님의 말씀에 대해서 이야기하는 것이 아니라, 다른 엉뚱한 것을 이야기하는 것을 말하는 것이 잘못된 길, 잘못된 방향이라는 것을 알아챌수 있습니다.

성경통독, 성경공부, 그리고 설교들이 말씀을 이해하고, 말씀이 가르키는 방향을 향해 여기에 예수님이 전한 복음의 방향이 어디로 향하는지, 무엇을 가르치고 있는지, 그러면 이런 말씀을 배우고 가르침을 받은 그리스도인들은 어떤 삶을 살아야 하는지를 깨닫는것이 "바른가르침과 바른길로 가는 방법"이라고 볼 수 있습니다.

그러면 어떻게 거짓과 진짜를 구별할까? 자기가 하고 싶은 말만 하는 곳 예를 들어 성경말씀, 하나님 말씀과는 상관없이 정치적 발언과 하나님의 능력이 자기들에게만 있다는 둥, 또는 세상에 교회가 많은데 선택된 교회가 얼마없다는 둥 이야기하는 분들의 공통점은 하나님 말씀보다 자기가 원하는 것을 성취하기 위해 교회와 성경말씀을 마음대로 전하는 곳이라고 볼 수 있습니다.

하나님이 이런자들이 세워놓은 허술한 담을 무너뜨리고 심판의 대상이 된다고 말씀하십니다. 이 심판의 방향은 곧 "하나님이 참 주님이심을 알게 한다"는 것입니다.

“This is because they have misled my people, saying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace. When my people build a wall, they merely cover it with whitewash.” (Ezekiel 13:10)

Today’s passage contains God’s words concerning false prophets.The greatest problem with false prophets is that they lead people down the wrong path. In Scripture, our life of faith is often described as a “path” or a “direction.” We speak of the right path versus the wrong path, the right direction versus the wrong direction.

At times, we may wonder: “Am I walking on the right path right now?” Ezekiel points out that “those who speak from their own imagination” are false prophets, and these are the ones who guide people in the wrong direction.

It’s a simple standard, but it makes us ask: Who are those who speak from their own imagination? Ezekiel answers: they are “those who have not received the word of the Lord.”

Between “not receiving God’s word” and “speaking from one’s own imagination,” we realize this means they are not speaking about God’s Word at all, but rather about something completely unrelated. This, Ezekiel says, is the wrong path and the wrong direction.

Reading through the Bible, studying Scripture, and listening to sermons should help us understand the Word and move toward the direction it points to—ultimately, toward the gospel that Jesus proclaimed. It teaches us where we are to go and what kind of lives Christians who have received this teaching should live. This is the way to sound teaching and the right path.

So, how do we distinguish between the false and the true?False teachers are those who speak only what they want to say—often without any connection to Scripture or God’s Word. They may make political statements under God’s name, claim that God’s power belongs exclusively to them, or insist that only a few select churches are truly chosen. The common factor is that they twist Scripture and the church for their own purposes rather than submitting to God’s Word.

God says He will tear down these flimsy, whitewashed walls that such people have built. They will face His judgment. And the purpose of this judgment is that “they will know that I am the Lord.”
