Ezekiel 34:23–31, Tuesday, April 28, 겔 34:23-31, 4월28일 화요일

"내가 그들과 평화의 언약을 세우고, 악한 짐승들을 이 땅에서 없애겠다. 그러면 그들이 광야에서도 안전하게 살고, 숲 속에서도 잠을 잘 수 있을 것이다." (겔 34:25)

목자 이야기입니다. 그런데 시작이 좀 무겁습니다. 양들을 돌봐야 할 목자들이 오히려 양들을 착취하고 있다는 이야기입니다. 살진 양은 잡아먹고, 병든 양은 내버려두고, 잃어버린 양은 찾으러 가지 않았습니다.

그런데 하나님이 하시겠다는 것이 있습니다. "내가 직접 내 양들을 찾겠다." 목자가 일을 못 하면, 내가 목자가 되겠다는 것입니다. 그리고 한 목자를 세우겠다고 하십니다. 다윗 같은 목자를. 다윗은 이미 죽은 사람입니다. 그러니 이것은 다윗 같은 사람, 다윗의 계보에서 올 누군가를 말하는 것입니다. 우리는 그게 누구인지 압니다.

"내가 그들과 평화의 언약을 세우겠다." 이 말이 오래 머물렀습니다. 평화의 언약. 요즘처럼 뭔가가 계속 흔들리는 시절에, 언약이라는 단어가 묵직하게 들립니다. 언약은 상황이 바뀐다고 바뀌지 않습니다. 내 기분이 달라진다고 달라지지 않습니다. 하나님이 먼저 하시겠다고 약속하신 것입니다.

광야에서도 안전하게, 숲 속에서도 잠을 잘 수 있다고 하십니다. 광야는 위험한 곳입니다. 숲도 마찬가지입니다. 안전하지 않은 곳에서 안전하게 하겠다는 것이지, 안전한 곳으로 옮겨 주겠다는 말이 아닙니다. 상황이 바뀌는 것이 아니라, 그 상황 안에서 다르게 살 수 있다는 것입니다.

그리고 마지막에 이 말이 나옵니다. "너희는 내 양이요, 내 초장의 양이요, 너희는 사람이라 나는 너희 하나님이라." 너무 단순한 말인데, 이상하게 이 말이 오늘 아침 가장 크게 들립니다. 내가 누구의 양인지 아는 것. 그것이 광야에서도 잠들 수 있는 이유입니다.

묵상

안전한 곳으로 옮겨주시는 것이 아니라, 위험한 곳에서도 안전하게 하시는 것이 하나님의 방식입니다.

중보기도

1. 교회학교, 유스, 청년, 장년에 이르기까지 모든 사역에 하나님의 은혜가 가득하기를 위해서 기도해주세요. 관성적인것에서 벗어나, 한 영혼 한영혼을 사랑하는 마음을 다할 수 있도록 기도해주세요.

2. 사역자들을 위해서 기도해주세요. 진희원 전도사님, 민경득 목사님을 위해서 기도해주세요.

"I will make a covenant of peace with them and rid the land of savage beasts so that they may live in the wilderness and sleep in the forests in safety." (Ezekiel 34:25)

This is a passage about shepherds. But it starts heavy. The shepherds who were supposed to care for the sheep were exploiting them instead. They slaughtered the fat ones, neglected the sick ones, and never went looking for the lost ones. God was angry. Understandably so.

But then God says what He is going to do. I myself will search for my sheep. If the shepherds won't do their job, I will be the shepherd. And He says He will raise up one shepherd — a shepherd like David. David was already dead by then. So this is pointing to someone who would come from David's line, someone like David. We know who that is.

I will make a covenant of peace with them. That phrase stayed with me. A covenant of peace. In a season like this one, when things keep shifting and nothing feels stable, the word covenant lands differently. A covenant doesn't change when circumstances change. It doesn't shift with our moods. It is something God initiated — a promise He made first.

He says they will be safe in the wilderness, able to sleep in the forests. The wilderness is dangerous. So is the forest. The promise is not that He will move them somewhere safe — it's that He will make them safe where they already are. The situation doesn't change. But how you live inside that situation does.

And then, at the end, comes this: You are my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, and I am your God. It's almost too simple. And yet somehow, this morning, it's the line that hits hardest. Knowing whose sheep you are. That is the reason you can sleep, even in the wilderness.

Reflection

God's way is not to move us somewhere safe — but to keep us safe exactly where we are.

Intercessory Prayer

1. Please pray that God's grace would fill every level of our church — children's ministry, youth, young adults, and the congregation. Pray that we would break free from going through the motions, and that we would love each and every soul with our whole hearts.
