그러므로 우리는 담대하게 은혜의 보좌로 나아갑시다. 그리하여 우리가 자비를 받고 은혜를 입어서, 제때에 주시는 도움을 받도록 합시다. (히브리서 4:16)

누가 대신 내일을 해주면 고맙죠. 특히 바쁜 와중에 "알아서 도와주는 손길"은 더할나위 없이 기억에 남습니다. 우리가 가끔 교회는 일하는 곳 또는 뭔가를 시키는 자리로 여기는 경우가 있습니다. 그런데 뭔가 공동체를 만들어가는데 있어서 헌신이 요구되어지거나 필요하게 됩니다. 여기에 희생이 없으면 안되는 희생공도에라는 사실도 기억해야합니다.

요즘 저의 깊은 고민은 헌신과 나눔이 과연 우리를 괴롭히는 것인지? 아니면 신앙생활에서 필요한 삶의 방향인지에 대한 분명한 이해가 있어야 겠다는 생각이 들었습니다. 예수믿고 신앙생활하는 공동체안에 있다는 것은 신나는 일입니다. 신나는데 뭐가 부담이 되고 어렵게 느껴지겠습니까? 누군가가 분위기를 만들면 그렇게 하는 것을 당연하게 여깁니다. 이런 우리의 속성을 잘아시는 예수님은 우리들이 할일을, 아니 하지 못하고 주저하고 있는 것을 앞서서 일하셨습니다.

히브리서 4:14–16은 우리에게 예수 그리스도께서 우리의 큰 대제사장이 되신다고 이야가합니다. 큰 대제사장이 된다는 의미는 우리가 하지못하는 걸 우리 대신 하셨다는 의미입니다.

그분은 하늘로 승천하셨고 하나님 우편에 앉아 계시지만, 동시에 우리의 연약함을 모르시는 분이 아닙니다. 성경은 “우리에게 있는 대제사장은 우리의 연약함을 동정하지 못하실 이가 아니요”라고 말합니다. 예수님은 인간의 삶을 통과하셨고, 시험을 받으셨으며, 고통과 외로움을 경험하셨습니다. 그러나 죄는 없으셨습니다. 그러므로 그분은 멀리 계신 심판자가 아니라, 우리의 자리를 직접 걸어보신 중보자이십니다.

우리는 종종 하나님께 나아가기를 주저합니다. 아직 준비되지 않았다고 느끼기 때문입니다. 부족함이 드러날까 염려하고, 실패의 흔적이 마음을 무겁게 합니다. 그러나 오늘 말씀은 우리에게 다른 길을 보여 줍니다. “담대히 나아가라.” 그 이유는 우리가 나아가는 자리가 심판의 보좌가 아니라 은혜의 보좌이기 때문입니다. 그곳에는 정죄가 아니라 긍휼이 있고, 거절이 아니라 돕는 은혜가 있습니다.

오늘 하루를 시작하며 감당해야 할 일들이 부담스럽게 느껴질 수 있습니다. 그러나 우리는 혼자가 아닙니다. 우리의 대제사장이 이미 길을 열어 두셨습니다. 우리는 스스로를 증명하기 위해 나아가는 것이 아니라, 은혜를 받기 위해 나아갑니다. 담대함은 우리의 강함에서 오는 것이 아니라, 우리를 이해하시는 주님에 대한 신뢰에서 비롯됩니다.

이 아침, 문제를 먼저 붙들기보다 은혜의 보좌를 먼저 붙드십시오. 우리의 필요를 아시는 주님께서 때를 따라 돕는 은혜로 채워 주실 것입니다.

예수를 믿고 공동체를 세워가는 것은 신나는 일입니다.

중보기도

1. 오늘 저녁 7시에 성경공부가 있습니다. 금요일저녁에 성경공부를 하는 이유는 수요일 저녁에 청년예배를 인도해야하고, 금요일이 일하시는 분들에게 여유가 있다고 해서입니다. 그리고 남선교회에서 준비하는 불꽃기도회가 오늘 저녁 7시45분에 있습니다.

2. 내일 새벽예배도 기억하시고 함께해주세요. 우리에게 기도가 절실히 필요할때입니다. 내일오후 4시에 디너처치 예배가 있습니다. 은혜를 사모하며 기도해주세요.

“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”— Hebrews 4:16

It would be wonderful if someone could take care of tomorrow for us. Especially in the middle of a busy life, a helping hand that “just knows what to do” and steps in without being asked stays in our memory. Sometimes we think of the church as a place where we work or where we are told to do something. Yet whenever we seek to build a true community, commitment is required. We must also remember that there is no genuine community without sacrifice.

Recently, I have been deeply reflecting on this question: Is commitment and sharing something that burdens us, or is it a necessary direction of life in our faith journey? To believe in Jesus and belong to a community of faith is meant to be a joyful and exciting experience. If it is truly joyful, why does it sometimes feel heavy or demanding? When someone else sets the tone or carries the responsibility, we tend to assume that it is simply their role. Jesus, who knows our human nature so well, went ahead of us and did what we were supposed to do — or what we hesitated and failed to do.

Hebrews 4:14–16 tells us that Jesus Christ has become our great High Priest. To say that He is our great High Priest means that He has done for us what we could not do for ourselves.

He has ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, yet He is not distant from our weakness. Scripture says, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses.” Jesus walked through human life. He was tested. He experienced pain and loneliness. Yet He was without sin. Therefore, He is not a distant judge, but an intercessor who has walked in our very place.

Often we hesitate to come before God. We feel unprepared. We worry that our shortcomings will be exposed, and the weight of our failures makes us reluctant. But today’s passage shows us a different way: “Let us approach with confidence.” We are not approaching a throne of judgment, but a throne of grace. There we find not condemnation, but mercy; not rejection, but grace that helps.

As we begin this day, the responsibilities before us may feel overwhelming. Yet we are not alone. Our great High Priest has already opened the way. We do not come to prove ourselves; we come to receive grace. Confidence does not come from our own strength, but from trusting the Lord who understands us completely.

This morning, instead of holding onto your problems first, hold onto the throne of grace. The Lord who knows your needs will provide mercy and timely help.

Reflection

Believing in Jesus and building a community of faith is a joyful calling. How is God inviting me today to participate in that joy through commitment and trust?

We meet on Friday evenings because Wednesday nights are dedicated to leading the young adult worship service, and Fridays tend to be more convenient for those who work. In addition, the Men’s Ministry will be hosting a “Fire Prayer Meeting” tonight at 7:45 PM.
