Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, they will keep my word. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word you hear is not mine, but the Father's who sent me." (John 14:23-24)
As February Fades: Reflections of a Pastor's Heart
As February draws to a close, I find myself in a moment of quiet contemplation, watching as the first two months of 2025 slip into memory. This pause isn't born of anxiety, but rather emerges from a deeper place of self-reflection: Have I been living authentically in the time given to me? This question has become a faithful companion in recent days, not as a burden but as a gentle reminder of life's precious nature.
The sight of my aging parents has lately struck a particularly resonant chord. While time's steady march remains unstoppable, their unwavering sense of duty stands as a testament to enduring values. Their example naturally draws my thoughts to my own path, strengthening my resolve to honor the life entrusted to me with equal dedication.
As a pastor serving in the Korean-American church, my thoughts inevitably extend beyond personal reflection to encompass broader horizons. The landscape of Christianity in America today presents unique challenges, particularly in this age of information abundance. To those feeling adrift in these complex times, I offer this anchor: ground yourself in the quartet of tradition, reason, Scripture, and experience. Let your church community be your harbor—not through blind trust in individuals, but through faith in the collective journey of spiritual growth we share.
Today's Scripture brings forth Jesus's profound yet elegantly simple question: "Do you love me?" This query finds its answer not in words alone, but in our dedication to His teachings. As a preacher, this challenges me to examine my own ministry: Am I merely speaking my own thoughts, or am I faithfully channeling God's message? The answer lies in the authenticity of our love for Jesus and our commitment to His word.
The role of a preacher often requires delivering messages that may challenge comfort zones. This responsibility returns us to fundamental questions: Do we love Jesus more than ourselves? Are we speaking our own wisdom or faithfully transmitting divine truth? Each morning devotion I write carries this weight of responsibility, for God's Word demands our utmost reverence and careful handling.
As we navigate our daily lives, may we remember that loving Jesus manifests in following His teachings, allowing our very existence to become a living testament to His message. Tomorrow's Bible study and our new small groups represent fresh opportunities for this communal journey of faith.
Let us move forward with this truth: when we truly love Jesus, our lives become living embodiments of His Word. In this spirit, I invite you to join our community in fellowship, particularly at tomorrow's Bible study session at 10 AM, where we can explore these truths together.
Meditation
My life itself is the living Word of Jesus!
Intercessory Prayer
This Sunday, our new small groups will gather for the first time. I pray that God's grace and love will overflow abundantly in our fellowship.
Please remember tomorrow's Bible study at 10 AM! We earnestly hope for your participation.
