2 Timothy 3:1–9, November 5, 2025 (Wednesday), 디모데후서 3 : 1~9, 2025.11.05 (수)

학수고대하던 일이 끝나면, 그 다음에는 더 분주해집니다. 끝이 끝이 아니라 새로운 시작을 위한 분주함이죠. 오클랜드 건물 소송이 끝나서 한숨돌렸는데 새로운 브로커를 선택하기 위해 다시 분주해졌습니다. 어제는 전에 오린다 시에서 개발부서를 담당하고 현재는 라모린다지역에서 일하는 개발업자가 교회 뒤에 하우징 엘리먼트로 연락이 왔습니다. 아마 목요일에 가볍게 만나서 이야기를 나눌것 같은데 이후에 교회와 교회임원들은 더 분주해질것 같습니다.

바쁘고 분주하면서도 우리들은 하나님이 우리를 부르시고 우리에게 맡기신 사명을 감당하기 위해 충분한 영적상태를 유지해야합니다. 정기적인 기도모임과 말씀에 깊이 물들어야 하고 기도를 통해 이 분주함에 던져지는 일들을 하나 하나 해결해야겠죠.

시간이 지나면서 생각보다 알게모르게 주어지는 다양한 일들이 요즘 느끼는 것은 나이를 먹으면서 또는 오랫동안 한 공동체에 머물면서 짊어지는 책임이라는 생각이 듭니다. 그때가 되면 그때 해야할 일이 있는 것이죠. 시간이 지나면 자연스럽게 물러나야 하고 하고 싶어도 할 수 없는 것이라는 생각이 들었습니다.

바울은 디모데에게 전심을 다해 목회자로서 나누는 목회서신을 썼습니다. 디모데 전서, 후서는 바울이 디모데에게 남기는 목회서신이면서 디모데가 마주할 막막한 현실에 어떻게 하나님을 향한 진리와 복음을 지켜가면서 전할 수 있는지를 이야기합니다. 마치 자신이 그렇게 한것처럼 디모데도 그러기를 바라는 마음으로 든든히 믿음을 지켜갈것을 부탁합니다.

어려운때 하나님보다 자기자신에 집중하는 것을 바울은 경계할것을 이야기합니다. 신앙이 빛을 발하는 순간은 가장 어려운때 보이는 행위입니다. 이럴때 교회 지도자는 어떻게 하면 하나님의 인도하심과 하나님이 이끄시는 길을 드러내 보이기 위해 깊은 영성이 드러나야합니다.

열린교회에 큰 변화의 시점입니다. 모자른 부분도 있고, 차고 넘치는 부분도 있습니다. 하나 하나 잘 봉합해야할 부분도 있고, 자랑해야할 부분도 있습니다. 분주하게 서둘러야 하는 것도 있고, 차분하게 기다려야하는 것도 있습니다. 좀더 성실히 하나 하나 세워가야 할것도 있고, 앞뒤안가리고 시작해야할것도 있습니다. 이럴때 우리에게 필요한것은 이렇든 저렇듯 깊이 기도하고 하나님이 인도하시는 길을 찾아 가야한다는 확신과 기대가 있어야 합니다.

오늘, 겨울을 재촉하는 비가 내렸습니다. 시간을 우리를 밀어내듯 서두르라고 재촉하는 것 같은데 여기서 우리는 깊이 기도할 수 있는 마음을 가져야합니다.

깊은 기도와 영성을 위해 하루! 어떻게 시작하시나요?

1. 아픈분들의 소식이 들려옵니다. 소식을 나누지 말아달라며 부탁하고 기도를 부탁하시는 분의 마음을 헤아려보면 조용히 이 시간이 빨리 지나가기를 바라는 것 같습니다. 이야기해도 잘 모르지만 우리와 함께 공동체에서 어울렸던 분의 가족들이 갑작스럽게 큰 질병에 무너지고 있다는 소식도 들었습니다. 간절히 함께 기도해주세요.

2. 오늘은 수요일입니다. 성경공부와 청년예배가 은혜롭게 진행되도록 기도해주세요.

When something we have long awaited finally comes to an end, it is often followed by even greater busyness. The end is rarely the end—it becomes a new beginning that calls for fresh energy. After the Oakland building lawsuit finally concluded, I felt a moment of relief, but soon found myself busy again—this time searching for a new broker. Yesterday, a developer who once worked with the City of Orinda's planning department and now works in the Lamorinda area reached out about the housing element project behind the church. We'll likely have an informal meeting on Thursday, but I can already see that the church and its leadership will become even busier afterward.

Even amid this busyness, we must maintain a healthy spiritual condition to fulfill the mission God has entrusted to us. We need to be deeply soaked in Scripture and steadfast in regular prayer gatherings. Through prayer, we can face each challenge and task that this demanding season brings.

As time passes, I've come to realize that the various responsibilities we carry—often unspoken or unexpected—are part of what comes with maturity and long-term ministry in one community. There is a time when certain burdens must be carried, and also a time to step back. There are seasons when, even if we want to act, we must simply let go.

Paul wrote his pastoral letters, 1 and 2 Timothy, as a spiritual father pouring his heart into a younger minister. Through these letters, Paul teaches how to hold fast to God's truth and proclaim the gospel in the midst of an overwhelming reality. Just as Paul himself did, he urges Timothy to stand firm and remain faithful to the end.

In difficult times, Paul warns against turning inward—against focusing on oneself more than on God. True faith shines brightest not in comfort but in crisis. For church leaders, such moments call for deep spirituality—to reveal God's guidance and the path He leads.

Yeolin Church now stands at a significant turning point. There are areas that feel insufficient and others that overflow with grace. Some matters need careful mending; others deserve celebration. Some things must be done quickly; others require patient waiting. There are areas that call for diligence and order, and others that require bold, immediate action. In every case, what we most need is prayerful discernment—the conviction and expectation that God will lead the way.

Today, the rain that hastens winter has begun to fall. It feels as though time itself is urging us to move forward. Yet in this moment, we are invited to pause—to pray deeply.

1. We have received news of illness among our community members. Some have asked that their situation remain private but have requested our prayers. Others—whose families once worshiped and fellowshipped with us—are now facing sudden, serious illness. Please pray earnestly for them.

2. And today is Wednesday. Please also pray for our Bible study and youth service—that they may be filled with God's grace.
