나 주가 말한다. 내가 시온으로 돌아왔다. 내가 예루살렘에서 살겠다. 예루살렘은 ‘성실한 도성’이라고 불리고, 나 만군의 주의 산은 ‘거룩한 산’이라고 불릴 것이다. (스가랴 8:3)

어제 변호사로부터 오클랜드 빌딩에 대한 소송을 이겼다는 이메일을 받았습니다. 내용은 당장 다시 매각을 진행할 수 있고, 변호사비용을 상대가 물어야 하며 앞으로 Lis Pendense에 대한 기록을 삭제하도록 법원이 명령했습니다. 꽤 긴시간 묶여있던것들이 순식간에 풀리게 되었으니 이제 당장 무슨 일이 일어날것 같은데 사실 이제 처음부터 브로커를 연결하고 매각을 진행하는 작년에 고민했던 일들을 처음부터 다시 하나 하나 시작해야하는 상황에 있습니다.

다시 예전처럼 모든 것들이 회복되고 우리들이 원하는대로 할 수 있다는 긍정적인 면도 있지만, 또 다시 처음부터 해야한다는 부담도 있습니다. 아마 쉽지 않고 결정하는데 우리는 많은 힘을 쏟아야 합니다. 이 여정은 많은 생각을 하게 했습니다. 좀더 신중하고 앞으로 어떤 비전을 가져야할지 그리고 개인적으로도 큰 변화에 대한 기대를 갖게 합니다.

스가랴의 상황은 긍정적이지 않습니다. 제2성전을 다시 세우는 과정은 쉽지 않았습니다. 재정적인것 또는 어떻게 성전을 재건해야하는가라는 기본적인 조건부터 만만치 않은 현실을 뚫고 스가랴는 성전재건의 희망을 선포하고 이끌어 가야했습니다. 모두가 찬성하는 일도 아니었고, 물질이 제법 필요하며 여기에 관심도 커야 하는데 어느것하나 만족스럽게 충족되지 않았습니다. 그런데 이런 상황에서 스가랴는 "하나님의 회복의 약속"을 선포합니다.

믿음은 때로는 불가능을 향해 하나님의 전적인 인도하심을 신뢰하며 뛰어드는 것 같습니다.

저는 지금 오클랜드 공항에서 라스베가스로 가는 비행기를 기다리고 있습니다. 서부지역 전체에서 교회성장을 위한 세미나를 여는데 연회에서 펀드받는 교회는 무조건 참석해야하고 참석해야 내년 펀드신청이 가능하다고해서 분주하게 움직이고 있습니다. 교회개척 또는 새로운 사역을 준비하는 것이 무모한 시대라고들 이야기 합니다. 그런데 이 무모함을 넘어서 하나님이 이끄시는 우리가 알수 없는 여정을 기대하는것 만큼 신나고 흥분되는게 없습니다. 그러니 이 여정에 함께해주세요

묵상

믿음은 모든 것이 완벽한 자리로 나아가려는 노력이 아니라 부족함을 뿌리에 두고 희망으로 채워가는 과정입니다.

Zechariah 8:3"This is what the Lord says: I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City, and the mountain of the Lord Almighty will be called the Holy Mountain."

Yesterday, I received an email from our attorney informing us that we won the lawsuit regarding the Oakland building. The court ruled that we can proceed immediately with the sale, that the opposing party must pay our attorney's fees, and that the Lis Pendens must be expunged from the record.

After being bound for so long, everything suddenly opened up. It feels as though things could move very quickly now—yet in truth, we are once again at the beginning: reconnecting with brokers, restarting the sale process, and retracing steps we wrestled with last year.

There is joy and relief that things are finally being restored and that we can move forward again. But there is also the weight of starting over from square one. It won't be easy, and making decisions will require much strength and discernment from us.

This journey has led me to deep reflection—on how to proceed more carefully, on what kind of vision we must hold going forward, and personally, on what transformation I long to embrace.

In Zechariah's time, the situation was far from optimistic. Rebuilding the Second Temple was no easy task. Financial challenges, logistical questions about how to rebuild, and internal opposition made the work difficult. Resources were scarce, enthusiasm was limited—and yet, in that very reality, Zechariah proclaimed God's promise of restoration.

Faith, at times, means leaping toward the impossible, trusting completely in God's guidance.

I am now at Oakland Airport, waiting for my flight to Las Vegas to attend a regional seminar on church growth. The conference is for all churches in the western region receiving annual funding from the conference; attendance is required to remain eligible for next year's grants.

Many say that starting a new ministry—or planting a new church—is unwise in our time. But beyond what seems unreasonable or impractical, there is something thrilling about walking the unknown path God leads us into. So I invite you to journey with us in faith.

Faith is not the pursuit of perfection, but the process of filling our incomplete places with hope.
