믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우십시오. 영생을 얻으십시오. 하나님께서는 영생을 얻게 하시려고 그대를 부르셨고, 또 그대는 많은 증인들 앞에서 훌륭하게 신앙을 고백하였습니다. (디모데전서 6:12)

어제 장로님과 무너진 팬스 수리를 잘 마쳤습니다. 잘 준비해주셔서 작업하는데 오래걸리지 않았습니다. 나무를 잘라야했던 큰 숙제는 팬스를 무너지게 해서 완벽하게 마무리하지 못했듯했는데 마침내 잘 마무리한 것 같아 뿌듯합니다.

팬스 수리후 장로님이 여기 저기 손이 필요한곳을 찾아 고치셨습니다. 에어컨에서 나오는 물을 빼는 배수관 물이 새는 수도를 연장을 가져오셔서 하나하나 고치셨습니다. 마음이 쓰였던 것인데 순식간에 해결해주셔서 감사합니다.

건물이 생기면 생각보다 신경써야 할게 많은것 같습니다. 계절마다 필요한 작업들이 존재하고 잘 고쳐놓았으니 잘 보존하고 유지하는 일이 만만치 않은 것 같습니다. 오고가며 필요한것들을 찾아서 의견을 모으는 창구를 하나 만들면 좋겠다는 생각이 들었습니다. 사람마나 관심이 다르고 보는 눈이 다르니 필요한것 하나 하나 이야기하면 좀더 효율적으로 관리를 하지 않을까?라는 생각이 들었습니다.

교회건물을 생각해도 이정도 생각이 드니, 교회 성도와 예배를 생각하면 더 많은 것들이 떠오릅니다. 잘하고 싶은 마음, 완벽하고 싶은 마음, 성가대분들은 온라인 방송이 좀더 현장과 같아지기를 바라는 마음으로 이런 저런 이야기를 하시는데 이런 마음들이 모이면 더 단단히 세워지겠죠.

오늘 나누는 본문은 바울이 디모데에게 전하는 마지막 권면이 기록되어 있습니다. 간단하게 요약하면 하나님의 사람으로서 정체성과 사명을 잘 지켜내기를 바라는 마음이 적혀있습니다. 악을 피하고 의를 따르라, 악과 싸우라고 이야기하지 않고 믿음으로 선한 싸움을 싸우라고 권면합니다. 이런 권면도 어쩌면 우리들이 작은것 하나 돌보면서 느끼는 감사와 기쁨에서 출발하는 좀더 잘했으면 하는 마음과 같지 않을까? 하는 생각이 들었습니다.

기왕이 최선을 다해 그리고 잘하는 마음을 기대해봅니다

"Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses."(1 Timothy 6:12)

Yesterday, I worked with one of our elders to repair the broken fence. Thanks to his preparation, the work went smoothly and didn’t take too long. Cutting down a tree had been a major concern—we couldn’t finish the job properly before because it was pushing the fence down. But now, it feels good to have finally completed it.

After fixing the fence, the elder noticed other areas that needed care and willingly helped. He repaired a leaking outdoor faucet connected to the air conditioning drainpipe using his own tools. I had been concerned about it, but he resolved the issue in no time. I’m truly grateful.

Having a building means there’s always more to take care of than expected. Each season brings new maintenance needs, and keeping things in good condition requires constant attention. It occurred to me that we could benefit from having a shared communication channel—a place where anyone can mention things they notice or suggest improvements. With so many perspectives and caring eyes, we could manage our space more efficiently and thoughtfully.

If we think this much about a church building, how much more do we think about our congregation and our worship? Our desire to do things well, to be excellent in all we do—these are signs of a heart that wants to glorify God. For example, our choir members have expressed a desire for our online services to reflect the in-person experience more closely. When hearts come together with these intentions, the church becomes stronger.

The passage we reflect on today records Paul’s final exhortation to Timothy. In short, he urges him to keep his identity and calling as a person of God. Paul does not say “fight evil,” but instead “fight the good fight of faith.” Perhaps this kind of exhortation grows from the same place as our small daily acts of care, thankfulness, and the desire to do things better.

So, let’s give our best—not to be perfect, but to be faithful.

• For Deacon Im Bo-young and Family: Her mother, Mrs. Yoon Jung-im, has gone to be with the Lord. Please pray for safe travels and comfort for Deacon Im Bo-young as she travels to Korea, and for the grace of God to be with the entire family during the funeral.

• For Lee Soo-Ji: She injured her arm after returning from Korea and has not been able to attend church recently. Please lift her up in your prayers for healing and full recovery.
